Sponsor Our Music Programme
“Band on the Wall has been vital to the bloodstream of the music scene in Manchester and thus all of Britain”—
Julian Joseph, pianist, composer, educator, broadcaster and Honorary Patron of Band on the Wall.
Sponsoring Band on the Wall’s music programme is a unique opportunity to become part of the musical heartbeat of the city by supporting our legendary main-stage programme. There is no other music venue in Manchester with our rich heritage, and this global programme is the essence of Band on the Wall – our live music programme spans the generations. Dating from those first pioneering jazz concerts in the 1930s, it is a programme that has succeeded in being both world-class and popular. Countless legendary artists in every field have performed here from jazz heroes Stan Tracey and Art Blakey, to African artists ranging from Ali Farka Toure to Kanda Bongo Man and a reggae line-up including Horace Andy and Burning Spear. Also the venue has also been an incubator and early performance platform for, among hundreds of others, internationally acclaimed artists such as Bjork, Mick Hucknall, Joy Division and The Buzzcocks.
The refurbished Band on the Wall will continue and extend this diversity and thus it will appeal to many markets in terms of cultural background, age and any other relevant measure that may be applied. For this reason, the music programme at the new Band on the Wall offers outstanding opportunities for corporate sponsorship. A distinctive programme can be tailored to the aims and wishes of the sponsor, whether an international brand leader or a progressive local SME. The potential range is considerable. For example, we are offering sponsorship of the entire programme for up to three years – a total of over 600 events, creating a tidal wave of goodwill and brand awareness to the people of Manchester and the region. Other opportunities could include:
- Sponsoring the high profile launch programme for the new Band on the Wall, with gala events
- Sponsoring a series of lunchtime family jazz jams in what will be our new adjacent arts space, the Picturehouse
- Sponsoring a mini-festival of Latin American music and dance over a summer long weekend
- Sponsoring a multi-media commission for a composer working with a ‘new media’ artist, featuring the audio production and visual display facilities throughout the refurbished Band on the Wall and adjacent Picturehouse
- Sponsoring an award programme showcasing young bands who can win a professional quality video recording, live from Band on the Wall
