Education at Band on the Wall
EDUCATION PROJECTS AT BAND ON THE WALL
It is over a quarter of a century since music education activities first took place at Band on the Wall, probably the first club-style venue in the country to have an education programme. For those many years we have sought to be facilitators of great music education, as well as providing great music events. The refurbishment of Band on the Wall will enable us to carry on this tradition, but with many improvements.
The reopened Band on the Wall will have a refurbished education suite, with adjacent sound recording studio. There will also be a new space in the adjacent Grade II Listed “Picturehouse” (the former Smalleys' building between BOW and the Burton Arms) and this will have several functions, including larger-scale education events.
We plan to welcome back the popular Jazz Foundations workshop that has continued to operate in term times at the Hare & Hounds on Shudehill. We are planning a number of other evening classes, masterclasses, seminars and other education activities. We are also looking to develop education activity around our new Heritage Lottery funded project, Our Archive, and we are seeking funding for a range of other activities and projects.
Leading our education development is Martin Milner who can be contacted at 07812 345 406 or martin@everydaymusic.org.uk
Supporting Education at Band on the Wall
Our developing education programme also offers opportunities for sponsorship by companies or individuals who wish to do something really good! In addition to a feel-good factor, there are other benefits that can accrue from a positive association with our projects. Our Development Manager, Najia Bagi, will be happy to discuss the available opportunities and to answer any queries. She can be contacted on 0161 834 2559 or development@bandonthewall.org
