Sponsor our Education Programme

Band on the Wall has always been proud of its education programme. We have worked hard to be facilitators of great music tuition and creation as well as staging great music performances. The re-development will allow us to build on our reputation with a full programme of education events throughout the year. As part of the redevelopment, we will create a new Education Suite, which will include state-of-the-art technology and facilities. Amongst our plans are:

Manchester International Festival 2009

Manchester International Festival has firmly established itself as the world’s first festival of original and new work. As a key partner in the festival, Band on the Wall plans to commission a top Steel Pan composer to write a new piece for Manchester steel bands. This will result in a massive community performance of the work involving hundreds of musicians and people from all of Manchester’s communities.

Band on the Wall Voices

A bold and exciting new choir for Manchester. Deliberately cross-generational, the choir will allow people from all backgrounds to enjoy making music together. Their work will be regularly showcased at events throughout the year.

Northern Composure

A regular collective of musicians will bring each other’s compositions to life. Whether the writer uses standard notation or just has an idea for a tune, the public will get to hear what it sounds like played not by computers, but by real musicians using both conventional and unusual instruments from around the world. In doing so Composure and its sponsors will make Band on the Wall a world centre for new and original work.

‘Beyond the Wall’ Digital Media Programme

On the Wall will be a digital media training programme focused on producing a regular Webcast. Featuring local bands, main programme highlights, poets and visual artists it will be recorded, mixed and transmitted from Band on the Wall to the world. This will be a flagship transmission breaking new ground by broadcasting the best of our main stage performances alongside interviews, showcases of up and coming bands and short features from Our Archive on related topics.

As a Sponsor of our education programme, you will be acknowledged with:

  • VIP provision at two special supporters’ events during the year, as well as pre-event receptions for significant sponsors
  • Naming rights - Significant sponsors will have elements of the Education Programme named after them
  • Acknowledgement of support in the Education Suite
  • There is also the opportunity to sponsor the Education Suite (see ‘Sponsoring an area of the building’)
